Sustainability Rating

Flexsys was awarded a Gold EcoVadis Sustainability Rating for 2023. We scored in the top 3% of chemical manufacturers in four key areas: the environment, labor & human rights, ethics and sustainable improvement. The EcoVadis rating is recognized as the most trusted business sustainability rating.

Innovation

Our R&D initiatives and partnerships with customers help us to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to product sustainability, as well as compliance with laws and regulations. By working closely with customers, suppliers and other industry stakeholders we can identify product substitutes or methods of reuse that are more sustainable for people and the planet.

Resource efficiency

Operational excellence is part of our DNA. By reducing energy, water and waste in our operations, we also reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We strive to reduce the carbon footprint of our own operations and our customers’ through proactive energy management programs, a shift to lower-carbon sources of energy, and strategically locating our manufacturing plants to reduce transport miles.

We also continue to explore innovative opportunities to reduce waste and hazardous materials to make our products and production processes more environmentally friendly and resource efficient.

Safety for all

We are actively investing in and pursuing opportunities to improve the overall safety of our products, including their safe handling and disposal. Also, each of our manufacturing facilities is ISO 9001:2015 certified and maintains a dedicated Quality Management System (QMS) Manual.

Flexsys is committed to safety excellence and prevention of workplace incidents and injuries. Each of our facilities has a tailored Process Safety Management System governing facility-specific process-related safety risks, and our safety performance metrics have shown continual improvement over the last several years, demonstrating positive performance.

Sustainability partnerships

Our commitment to sustainability also extends to our suppliers. We assess suppliers on a wide range of areas including ethics, labor and human rights, environment, and sustainable procurement and seek to partner with suppliers who share our same commitments and values.

European Union REACH

Flexsys fully supports the objectives of the Regulation EC 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). The main objectives of REACH are to determine the hazards of chemicals and to carry out risk assessments to protect human health and the environment. Flexsys confirms its compliance with REACH. Where relevant and required, all substances manufactured in and imported into the European Union by Flexsys have been duly registered.

International Chemical
Control Law

Like the European Union’s REACH program, many countries/regions have established industrial chemical control laws and have implemented national industrial chemical inventories to manage chemicals in commerce for the region. Flexsys supports these governmental chemical management efforts and advocates for realistic chemical control programs that protect the environment and its people while encouraging innovation and sustainable use of natural resources.

Supporting a Sustainable Portfolio

Active engagement in chemical management provides opportunities for Product Stewardship to work with Flexsys’ technology organization to design products that avoid or reduce the use of potential substances of concern whenever technically feasible.

GHS implementation

Many countries around the world continue to adopt the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). As a global company, Flexsys supports the use of GHS hazard classification for its products to meet the requirements of every country adopting this system. Hazards pertaining to chemical substances are communicated to our customers via Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other product-related information. Safety Data Sheets are prepared in compliance with the UN’s Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and/or country-specific requirements.
